Being a Morning Musume fan since the original auditions in 1997 means I've been a fan for almost 10 years!! However with all the changes in MM and Hello! Project's future looking unsure, I've taken an interest in Akihabara48 or AKB48 as they are known. As written on Wiki, AKB48 is the creation of Akimoto Yasushi who held an audition back in 1995 for a theater based idol group.

Their name AKB48 is comprised of Akihabara which is their theater's home base (Electric town where all the otaku/nerd conglomerate) and the number 48 (currently 48 members divided into three teams: Team A, Team K and Team B). Each group contains 16 members. And you thought 5-15 members in Morning Musume was a lot!! Anyways I've taken a liking to some of their songs as Akimoto has always been a writer of very catchy tunes since his days producing Onyanko Club.
