So we decided to take a day trip with my wife's parents down to Shizuoka to check out the Sakura. Kawazu cherry blossoms are
known as one of the earliest cherry blossoms in Honshu region, Japan.
They are different from the most popular kind of cherry blossoms,
someiyoshino. Kawazu cherry blossoms are pink and last longer in full
bloom than someiyoshino do. It's said that predicting the flowering
time of Kawazu cherry blossoms is very difficult, and they might begin
to bloom in January. Typically, Kawazu cherry blossom festival is held
from early February to early March. During the festival, more than one
million people visit the town to see the pink cherry blossoms before
someiyoshino bloom in other areas. Cherry trees are lined along the
Kawazu River, and the blossoms are illuminated at night.
The weather wasn't the greatest and it was even cooler temps than in Tokyo which has been around 10C most days. We were able to spend some quality family time together as well as take some nice pics. After arriving back in Chiba we went for kaiten sushi right outside C-One and Yodobashi Camera.
