A few weeks ago, Momoko Ueda, Callaway Japan's top pro and number one female golfer in Japan this year was seen sporting a Callaway Tour Cap with the name Legacy on the side. Many wondered what this was. Last week those questions were answered as Callaway Japan announced it's new driver, Legacy, the followup and improved version of it's top performing and selling Hyper ERC.

The Legacy strives to improve distance and accuracy. Callaway golf combines its 25 years of technology and performance, along with 25 years of tradition and philosphy to evolve into its new Legacy brand. From 1994 and the Great Big Bertha, to 1997 and the Biggest Bertha drivers, to 2000 and the original ERC driver up to 2007 and the Hyper ERC, Callaway has strived to create a driver that excels in performance and ease of use.

The All Titanium Legacy driver is available in 46 and 45" lengths as well as custom fit with numerous upgrade shafts from all the latest in exotic Japanese high end brands. Technology wise the Legacy features a new stretched head design that acheives a high moment of inertia, an increase of 9% over the Hyper ERC. Callaway's power weighting features 24g seated towards the heel to help acheive a square face at impact. This combination of MOI and weighting creates a boring and long trajectory for max carry.

Callaway has focused on three key elements, ball speed, launch angle and back spin, to help create the longest driver ever in Callaway's lineup. Adopting a new hyperbolic face that is even thinner with a larger overall area than the Hyper ERC, creating high ball speeds coupled with max forgiveness all over the face of the driver.  The stretched head design pushes the CG even deeper back for optimal launch with lower spin.

Callaway utilises a special Milled Chemical Technology to create a thinner and flatter crown joined together with a no hosel style neck design resulting in a 1.5mm lower CG than the Hyper ERC. This minimizes overall backspin and creates force to carry the ball forward.

Available in 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 ,11.5* lofts stock with Callaway's Speed Axis Shaft or with upgrades like:
Diamana Ali' Islei
Fujikura Rombax Z Series
Graphite Design Tour AD MD Series

Samples of the new FT-i Fairway Wood were also shown at the release.
